Kite Reel with 200' 30 lb Nylon TwineReviewsI wanted a kite reel that would make reeling our kite in in a decent amount of time. This reel is a nice size, the crank handle folds in to make it easy to stuff in a bag, and the line is good quality. Unfortunately like so many products that are priced low, the quality just isn't there. The day I tried it for the first time was quite windy, so maybe in lighter wind it would have been fine. In strong wind the whole thing feels flimsy and flexes as you reel the kite in, and felt like the crank handle was just going to snap off. I managed to break the lock right off, though that was due to the fact that I probably shouldn't have tried to use it as a brake! That boo-boo was definitely user-error! My daughters original kite reel broke so I ordered this one. She could not wait for a windy day so she could try it. The wind finally blew and she tried it. It worked quite well. It actually seems to be better designed than the original. I think that it will last longer than the original. This reel is a big improvement over hand winding kite line. It works great. It is lightweight enough for my three year old to use. It could have been constructed a little better, but I believe it will hold up fine as long as it is not abused. Average Rating:  |

Premier SLRS 10 Kite Line Quick Winding ReelReviewsThis reel is extremely durable. The housing is comprised of a heavy weight, impact resistant platic that rotates around a ballbearing track. The hand grip is ergonomically molded and fits my hand perfectly. The only odd thing is that there is a large caution label on the outside of the reel that reads "CAUTION: This reel is not intended for use while flying a kite. It is designed for line retrieval and storage purposes only". Seems like a stupid warning to put on the outside of a kite reel. I guess this is meant to cover their butts in case someone gets mamed by the product. If you were only supposed to use it to retrieve the kite, how would you attach the line of the kite to it in mid flight? Whatever, I guess I am about to void my warranty! Average Rating: |
