I got this kite for my sister, and neither one of us had ever flown a kite, other than the $5 type. This kite came with all of the strings connected except for the two handles. However, two of the eight strings were knotted unevenly and it took about 30 min for us to adjust them. It was a bit tedious and actually, I thought that we had adjusted them wrong and would probably have problems flying it. We took in to the beach on a moderately windy day and it felt impossible to control, but after about 15 min we got the hang of it and it was a blast. We flew it for about 2 hours because we were having so much fun wit it. The kite is also incredibly durable. We crashed it many times, and not lightly. We slammed it into the hard wet sand hard enough to leave about 4 inch deep indentations, and other than a couple of the fiberglass frame disconnecting, the kite showed no signs of damage. This kite is awesome and totally worth the money. Get it.

I was disappointed when I first tried out the kite. It doesn't fly in light winds that well. However, after getting a chance to fly it at the beach in a steady wind I fell in love with it. This is a great first timers kite. It has crashed several times and is showing very little signs of wear. It is very easy to learn some simple tricks with this kite due to its superb control.

this was my first sport stunt kite, and it came as promised and delivered excellent performance. it is sturdy and pretty. string is very good too, not like some cheap kites. this kite does require at least a steady 7 to 8 mph to fly, but can also handle up to 25 mph. mike

I have some experience kiting and wanted to get a cheap beater kite to help my 7 year old daughter learn to fly a two line. I think deltas are easier to learn on than soft kites but they are easier to break. This kite flies well and is pretty hardy. For the money I would say it's a good beater kite. We changed the lines to 100 pound dyneema and it improved performance quite a bit. The handles that come with the kite can be frustrating to use. If you don't want to spend money on lines and straps, I would suggest measuring 50-75 feet of line from each handle and tying it off to the handle. This will save you some head ache when setting up the kite. This kite is not going to do crazy axels or flic-flacs, but it turns well, has a big window and flies in a decent wind range. It will help you learn the basics of launching and controlling a two-line kite. WARNING: This kite will probably lead to other kites.

After having flown this kite in several different wind conditions, definately opt for 7+ mph winds -- 3-5mph just isn't quite enough. You'll know if theres not enough wind, it seems like it doesn't want to cooperate and is hard to control which is not the case with a bit more wind. We went to the coast where it was about 15mph and had a blast. Easy to control once its in the air. Only thing I would recommend is for long term flyers, invest in some flying straps, it makes it a lot easier on the hands.

The kite is a breeze to take out of the package and quickly begin to play. The material is resilient and attractive to boot. The storage bag it comes with is a great idea as well. The only problem I see with the kite is the line that comes with the kite is too short and the spool is difficult to use. I would recommend purchasing a different spool--preferably one which is up to 500 feet. Overall, the kite is great fun!

Prism Nexus Stunt Kite (Blue) looks great and flys great. As a novice kite stunt flyer, I found this was a great looking kite to have for a great day of fun. I fly at the Berkeley, CA Marina where there are dozens of other stunt kite flyers. Among them all, the tourist and people always stop and watch my kite (and other prisms) fly in the air. To me that's fun at first, but can get annoying cause now you want to/force to put on a show. It flys around like its going to attack someone or another kite. The roar of the wind beneath its material is hardpounding and thrilling. I highly recommend this one as a starter. It's a good size, about the length of your arms out stretched. Also easy to assemble and disassemble, and has a fancy looking carrying case.

I ordered this kite not really knowing what I was going to get but it turned out to be perfect. The kite came in a very small bag which surprised me, I thought it would be much bigger but then when I put it together it was a nice big 5 foot kite. The small size when folded is great for tossing in the car for trips. I tested the kite out on a really windy day and it cut thru the air like a rocket and held up nicely. I let my 7 year old hold it and it almost picked her up off the ground. The connectors and stays are all pro style so they will hold up when the kit slams to the ground. I think I might get another one for when friends come over.

I actually exchanged this kite with the 5' wingspan in favor of the Quantum. (7' wingspan) When I received the Nexus, I realized it was smaller than I had pictured it to be...for my personal taste. I also read up a little more about the Quantum and figured for the extra $20.00, The Quantum was actually Prism's best choice for beginner/intermediate and worth the extra investment. The Quantum looks much grander, has adjustments as you get better, and has a reinforced kevlar nose for hard crashes. However, I am still giving this kite 5 stars as it's from Prism and I am sure it flies just as awesome as the Quantum! I love it! You would be happy with either kite.

The Kite appeared to be well made, however, when I first assembled it to fly I found that the bridle and lines were all different lengths, the lines were at least 1 foot different (making the wrist straps useless), and the bridle lines were also different lengths making it impossible to fly. Don't waste your money.

This is my first stunt I have ever bought so I might not have much comparison experience but this kite really is fun. It is really easy to set up, probably takes only a minute or two and is very easy to get the kite up if there is a moderate breeze. Although there is a small learning curve to get a feel for the turning, it usually is only 10 minutes if not less. The first time I flew this kite I was in a field on campus and everyone walking by would pause for a little bit to watch me fly the kite, and I don't doubt it'd be a great excuse to invite someone on a date.

Big enough for real-kite performance, small enough to pack in a suitcase, the Nexus is an adrenaline-filled introduction to sport kiting and you will get hooked. Hybrid carbon/glass composite frame for instant response and great light-wind performance...

This is a great beginner stunt kite. It is easy to fly and fun to watch. It is also easy to set-up and put away. Everything fits nicely in the bag that comes with the kite. Prism also offers some very good instructional videos on their web site.

This was my first dual line kite. I had attempted to fly it at Seattle's Magnuson Park Kite Hill, but quickly found that I need more constant wind speed to successfully fly it. It says it can fly in 3 mph wind, but it's more like 5 to 7 minimum mph wind. So 2 weeks later from my initial flight, I went to Long Beach and had the most extraordinary time. I would give it a 5 star if I could fly it more in the city (instead of the coast), but I have yet to do so. When I do (gasworks park is next on my list) I'll probably update this review.

This is an excellent kite to have hours of fun with at the beach or a park. At first it was a little difficult to control (the first 10 mins) after which it is sheer pleasure. Great colors and sturdy construction allows for this kite to crash hard and still survive. Definitely worth the money - but be careful flying it around people, it has the potential to move very fast at times.

It's very powerful. Easy to control. Withstands some nasty crashes. I would recommend to any beginning kite lover.

Having purchased two cheap stunt kites in the past while on vacation at the beach, I finally decided to move up to a better quality kite, inspired by my attendance at a local kite festival, which featured performances by expert stunt kite fliers. Research on the internet led me to the Prism Quantum Kite. I have now flown it both at a beach in Florida and locally in an area known for frequent winds. (I live in southwest Ohio.) Overall, I have been quite satisfied. The kite is undamaged despite repeated crashes as I learned to handle the kite. The built in shock absorber apparently works. The kite handles much more easily than the cheap kites I already own. It breaks down to about 36" X 5" X 3", and has a nice carrying case. It is a little heavy for lighter winds, which is the only limitation I have found. Still a great kite overall.

Average Rating:

The ultimate choice for new pilots, the Quantums impressive 7-foot wingspan is big enough for serious pull and excitement and stable enough to make learning a snap. Wide wind range, adjustable bridle, and practically indestructible carbon frame make it the kite you can learn with now but never outgrow...

I ordered this kite from Amazon and had it shipped to a family member that I was visiting in Florida. I used to own a stunt kite 10+ years ago when I lived in southern California and I thought it would be fun to do with my kids. The order shipped without any problems. The kite is great. Simple to put together, simple to get up in the air and simple to take apart and store in the convenient carry bag. I have two 13 year olds and a 10 year old and all three loved flying it. Even the 10 year old got the hang of it within seconds. Don't get the wrong idea though, this is fun for adults too. Just try to make sure you have enough area around you and away from others. These kites can take a nose dive and really injure someone if they are in the way.

Well I recieved my kite Thursday was really excited but suprised at the box it came in. I had ordered another kite for my younger brother and his had a 70in wingspan. I had read in the product features: Product Features A dual-line kite perfect for novice to intermediate kite fliers 84" wing span is effective for winds 3 - 25 mph Graphite frame with ripstop nylon & mylar sail Kevlar-reinforced nose forgive your unplanned landings Compact, take-it-anywhere package includes Spectra lines, winder, flight straps, and travel case with easy instructions printed right on the back. Note it says 84" wing Span I was hooked and really did not bother reading the rest under product features: SPECS: Skill level: novice - intermediate, Wing span: 60" (152 cm) Yes, the Nexus comes with a 60" Wing Span, while on the other hand the Prism Quantum is the one that really comes with the 84" Wing Span (7ft). My brother and I took our kites out for the first time today, we are pure begginers to stunt kites and well honestly have not flown a kite in years. We enjoyed our time out there even with every hard crash we made, and the frustration of trying to get the kite to do what we wanted. Now I know for sure it's going to take some practice. I think I'm actually glad the Nexus is a 60" wing span now that I flew it. So, other than my downer when I realized I the wing span was not what I read; the Nexus Kite from Prism is an awesome kite and I really do recommend it. Next time I will just have to read more carefully and I'm sure the Quantum is next in line for me. Happy Kite Flying!

I bought this for my 15 year old son for Christmas. He was disappointed to receive "just a kite", until he started using it. Now he loves it, and tries to find time every day to go outside to use it, even though it is freezing. I had to make a couple adjustments to the lines to keep it up in the air when we first got it, but now it works great. Very high quality materials, and a tough kite. It has crashed into the ground and various bushes and trees at full speed without any noticeable damage. Lots and lots of fun....I am thinking of getting one for myself so we can fly them together.

This isn't a kite, it's a sports car. A really, really fast, well-handling car. Like a car, you better be able to handle it, because it's going to wreck while you learn. First time you hit a strong wind, you'll see what I mean. It's brilliantly engineered. If you're really good, you could chase birds with it - it's that agile. Highly recommended, but you need to be able to handle it.

I actually went to a kite shop at the Outer Banks, Kitty Hawk Kites and purchased this kite. I had several traditional kites before and wanted to do something a little more than hold a string still. They recomended this kite for anyone getting into the sport. It is extremely durable and can take tons of poundings to the ground. Once I got it home and took it out for a spin I was hooked! It was so much fun and so entertaining! I loved watching people as they went by stopping and looking at this kite. I also was impressed with how easy it was to assemble. The instuctions were very clear and there are even instuctions pinted on the case so that you don't lose them. It folds up so compact that you can really take it anywhere. I love Prism brand kites above all others. They always seem to last far beyond they ever should. They are high quality kites that are very affordable. That is another plus about the Nexus, it is so affordable. I have bought more advanced kites since the Nexus but this is still one of my favorites. This is an excellent beginer kite that is fun for all!

If you've decided you want to jump into kiting with both feet, the Nexus from Prism may just be the kite for you. Its lightweight carbon frame makes it very responsive and easy to use and the five vibrant color patterns will dazzle any audience...
